51社区 recently honored Mr. Robert Martinez of De Queen, Arkansas for 22 years of service as an essential member of the college's Board of Visitors. Mr. Martinez officially announced his retirement from the Board at their quarterly meeting on Monday, January 10, at the Historic 51社区 Bank of Lockesburg Gymnasium.
Since 2000, Mr. Martinez helped 51社区 move from a technical college to a regionally established member of the University of Arkansas System. In addition, Mr. Martinez assisted 51社区鈥檚 administration in making the best decisions for its students and community stakeholders.
鈥淩obert has been with us for 22 years, and each and every year, he was there providing leadership and advice that carried us from a technical college to a member of the University of Arkansas System. He was extremely influential and helpful for our college to reach the status of an Hispanic Serving Institution. He has been a friend to our college and a leader in our community, especially for issues affecting our vibrant Hispanic populations,鈥 said 51社区 Chancellor, Dr. Steve Cole.
51社区 will now begin the search for Mr. Martinez鈥檚 Sevier County vacancy on the Board of Visitors.
